Great turn out for holiday tennis camp
MORE than 40 juniors ranging in ages from 5 to 15 years attended the three day tennis camp held at the Proserpine tennis courts during the school holidays.
The camp was conducted by on-tour tennis coaches Bill McDonald, Brad Clews and Taylor Douglas, as well as two trainee coaches, top local juniors, Catherine Cassells and Sam Cornish.
Interest in junior tennis has picked up and tournament results have improved for the Proserpine club. The club is hosting the next tournament in the McDonald’s junior development series this weekend.
They have over 50 competitors registered already and a great turnout is expected this Saturday and Sunday at the club.
Junior fixtures start at 3.30pm on Mondays and social tennis for all ages is available on Saturdays at 2.30pm.
NEXT GENERATION: Callam Ogilvie-Alcock, Thomas Raiteri, Ethan Raiteri and Eren Goodyear all attended last weekend's Proserpine junior tennis camp. All of the kids are the descendants of the late, great Frank Raiteri (club patron) who was a major contributor in the building of the Proserpine tennis courts.
