Magpies no match for our improving Sea Eagles
AUSSIE RULES SENIORS
A COMBINED 11 goals from key players Matty Laskey and Robert Whitton saw the Sea Eagles cruise past the Northern Beaches Magpies at the Whitsunday Sports Park on Saturday.
Six goals to Whitton and five to Laskey highlighted a morale boosting win for the home side with the final score reading 21.21.147-2.6.18.
A four goal to one first quarter set the pace for the home side who had pushed their lead out to 72-8 by the end of the first half.
Things got worse for the Magpies after the break as the Sea Eagles found another level and began scoring with relative ease.
Best-on-ground for the Sea Eagles in the big win were Laskey, Whitton, Joseph Caridi, Rhys Adamson and Cody Wright.
With four wins and six losses so far in 2013, the Sea Eagles will be desperate to move closer to a 50 per cent win record when they take on the Moranbah Bulldogs away this weekend.
A bye for the North Mackay Saints senior team allowed them to field a very strong reserves team that saw off the Whitsunday Sea Eagles 17.9.1112.7.19.
The Sea Eagles had little answers for the stacked Saints side and Daniel Keeley and Ryan Dempsey were the only goal kickers for the home side on the day.
They were joined in the best-on-ground list by Corey Adamson, Josh Griffiths and Trevor Ritchie.
The reserves will enjoy the bye this Saturday while the senior team travels to Moranbah to take on the ever-improving Bulldogs.
NOWHERE TO GO: Sea Eagles players Jade Derbyshire and Joseph Caridi wrap an opponent during their big win over the Northern Beaches Magpies on Saturday afternoon.
