Ju­nior Raiders earn state team spots

LAST week­end the un­der-13 ju­nior Whit­sun­day Raiders team com­bined with three Mackay ju­nior play­ers to com­pete in the Queens­land ju­nior rugby state ti­tles in Emer­ald.

The raiders also sent un­der-17 player Kieran An­der­son and un­der-16 player Ja­cob Cheese­man.

At the con­clu­sion of the ti­tles the QLD Bushrangers team were an­nounces and a num­ber of Raiders play­ers will head to Bris­bane in Sep- tem­ber to com­pete in the 2013 ju­nior state cham­pi­onships.

Kieran An­der­son and Ja­cob Cheese­man made the cut for their re­spec­tive age groups and un­der-13 play­ers Ben Cor­nish, Jack Kearns, Jeremy Kemp­ston and Tyrell Lafi­tu­a­nai also made the team.

This is the big­gest com­mu­nity rugby par­tic­i­pa­tion event in Aus­tralia each year with over 40 teams play­ing on five ovals from Septem­ber 23-25.
