Porters post business bowls win
BUSINESS House bowls was won last week by the Porters team with 13 points and Charter Yachts Australia second on 12.
The overall leader so far is Charter Yachts Australia with a total of 45 points and close behind are Woolworths and Porters on 41.
At Tuesday ladies bowls triples and pairs were played and the winners were Noela Whitehead and Lyn Boxer against Mae Secomb and Rae Hodgson 29-16.
On the next rink Jill Spencer, Val Wallis and Shirley Thompson defeated Lane Telford, Doreen Whitehouse and Di Dobbins 17-15 which proved to be a very close game.
On Wednesday men’s social bowls the winners were Ken Poulson, Steve Tattam and Jim Cairns aginst Eric Bottle, Dom Sposato and John Sladek 24-16 and Ted Evans, Howard Moulang and Jeff Newman defeated Geoff Wark, Ron Spence and Jeff Newman 27-11.
On the next rink Dennis Pye, Geoff Hoare and Denis Spruce defeated John Fornasiero, David Stock and Herb Secomb 35-15.
On Saturday the men’s open singles were played with Tony Osborne defeating Peter Lawton 25-12, Nathan Harriott defeating Tony Osborne in the second round 26-8 and then David Dias defeated Steve Tattam 25-21.
Bob McMahon defeated Dom Sposato 25-2 and Kevin Jewell defeated Col Howes 26-21.
Second rounds will continue next Saturday as per the board.
Barefoot bowls hosted a birthday party of 20 with some enjoying the bowls despite the showery weather and other enjoying a game of pool and darts.
There was a great role up on Sunday despite the showery and windy weather with triples being played on all rinks.
The winners for the afternoon were Graeme Wallace, Lyn Boxer and Dom Sposato who defeated Jo Howes, Jill Spencer and Betty Ni- colle 16-8 after a count back from Col Howes, Mae Secomb and Doreen Whitehouse who defeated Ted Evans, Rae Hodgson and Geoff Hoare 16-8.
On the next rink Eric Bottle, Val Wallace and Maureen Barnard defeated David Dias, Mal Moulang and Herb Secomb 15-9 and David Zimmerman, Nik Fernbach and Betty Holness defeated Steve Tattam, Ron Spence and Richard Whitehouse 14/ 10.
All members playing in club championships should update their games each week from the board so they can all be played as soon as possible.
