Porters post busi­ness bowls win

AIR­LIE BOWLS

BUSI­NESS House bowls was won last week by the Porters team with 13 points and Char­ter Yachts Aus­tralia sec­ond on 12.

The over­all leader so far is Char­ter Yachts Aus­tralia with a to­tal of 45 points and close be­hind are Wool­worths and Porters on 41.

At Tues­day ladies bowls triples and pairs were played and the win­ners were Noela White­head and Lyn Boxer against Mae Se­comb and Rae Hodg­son 29-16.

On the next rink Jill Spencer, Val Wal­lis and Shirley Thomp­son de­feated Lane Telford, Doreen White­house and Di Dob­bins 17-15 which proved to be a very close game.

On Wed­nes­day men’s so­cial bowls the win­ners were Ken Poul­son, Steve Tat­tam and Jim Cairns aginst Eric Bot­tle, Dom Sposato and John Sladek 24-16 and Ted Evans, Howard Moulang and Jeff New­man de­feated Ge­off Wark, Ron Spence and Jeff New­man 27-11.

On the next rink Dennis Pye, Ge­off Hoare and Denis Spruce de­feated John For­nasiero, David Stock and Herb Se­comb 35-15.

On Satur­day the men’s open sin­gles were played with Tony Os­borne de­feat­ing Peter Lawton 25-12, Nathan Har­riott de­feat­ing Tony Os­borne in the sec­ond round 26-8 and then David Dias de­feated Steve Tat­tam 25-21.

Bob McMa­hon de­feated Dom Sposato 25-2 and Kevin Jewell de­feated Col Howes 26-21.

Sec­ond rounds will con­tinue next Satur­day as per the board.

Bare­foot bowls hosted a birth­day party of 20 with some en­joy­ing the bowls de­spite the show­ery weather and other en­joy­ing a game of pool and darts.

There was a great role up on Sun­day de­spite the show­ery and windy weather with triples be­ing played on all rinks.

The win­ners for the af­ter­noon were Graeme Wal­lace, Lyn Boxer and Dom Sposato who de­feated Jo Howes, Jill Spencer and Betty Ni- colle 16-8 af­ter a count back from Col Howes, Mae Se­comb and Doreen White­house who de­feated Ted Evans, Rae Hodg­son and Ge­off Hoare 16-8.

On the next rink Eric Bot­tle, Val Wal­lace and Mau­reen Barnard de­feated David Dias, Mal Moulang and Herb Se­comb 15-9 and David Zim­mer­man, Nik Fern­bach and Betty Hol­ness de­feated Steve Tat­tam, Ron Spence and Richard White­house 14/ 10.

All mem­bers play­ing in club cham­pi­onships should up­date their games each week from the board so they can all be played as soon as pos­si­ble.
