Golfers play in wet con­di­tions

A HEARTY group of 22 play­ers faced the less than favourable con­di­tions last Sun­day on an over­cast and show­ery day to play a sin­gle stroke com­pe­ti­tion.

Ian Giles had a red let­ter day tak­ing out C grade and two near­est-the-pins on the day.

Play­ers ac­quit­ted them­selves well dur­ing the cool morn­ing and braved a cou­ple of heavy, but for­tu­nately short, show­ers dur­ing the morn­ing.

A grade was won by Kym Hill with a nett score of 74, beat­ing out run­ner-up Ross Richards on 78.

The best gross score was won by Scott Wardroper.

Scott Dwyer claimed the win in B grade with a nett score of 71 head of Mick Ca­ton on 74 while Ernie Hol­stein had the best gross score. Ian Giles nett score of 63 capped off his great day in C grade while Mark Ni­col was the run­ner-up with 69 and Rob Webb had the best gross score.

Long­est drives came from Kym Hill (A grade), Mark Win­ter (B grade), Rob Webb (C grade) and Rhonda Gurd (ladies).

Near­est-the-pins in A/B grade were Ross Richards on holes 2 and 16, Scott Dwyer on 9 and Scott Wardroper on 13.

C grade near­est-the-pins were John McCracken on hole 1, Ian Giles on 9 and 16 and Mark Ni­col on 13.

Ladies near­est-the-pins were Ti­ina Rand­mae on hole 9 and Anna Win­ter­bourn on 13 and 16.

Next Sun­day will be a ver­sus par game with tee off at 7.30am.
