Golfers play in wet conditions
A HEARTY group of 22 players faced the less than favourable conditions last Sunday on an overcast and showery day to play a single stroke competition.
Ian Giles had a red letter day taking out C grade and two nearest-the-pins on the day.
Players acquitted themselves well during the cool morning and braved a couple of heavy, but fortunately short, showers during the morning.
A grade was won by Kym Hill with a nett score of 74, beating out runner-up Ross Richards on 78.
The best gross score was won by Scott Wardroper.
Scott Dwyer claimed the win in B grade with a nett score of 71 head of Mick Caton on 74 while Ernie Holstein had the best gross score. Ian Giles nett score of 63 capped off his great day in C grade while Mark Nicol was the runner-up with 69 and Rob Webb had the best gross score.
Longest drives came from Kym Hill (A grade), Mark Winter (B grade), Rob Webb (C grade) and Rhonda Gurd (ladies).
Nearest-the-pins in A/B grade were Ross Richards on holes 2 and 16, Scott Dwyer on 9 and Scott Wardroper on 13.
C grade nearest-the-pins were John McCracken on hole 1, Ian Giles on 9 and 16 and Mark Nicol on 13.
Ladies nearest-the-pins were Tiina Randmae on hole 9 and Anna Winterbourn on 13 and 16.
Next Sunday will be a versus par game with tee off at 7.30am.
