Golfers battle tough conditions

WINDY conditions greeted the 23 ladies for last week’s stableford event, where Tina Badenhorst donated the trophies and prizes were allocated for three categories.
Jenny Hounsell won the 0-25 handicap category and Pam Casey won the 26-45 handicap category.
The overall runner-up was Mary Taylor followed by Tina Badenhorst and Beryl Nosworthy.
Mary Taylor had a great birdie on hole 13 after her tee shot was deflected onto the green by a gum tree.
Nearest-the-pin winners for the day were Pauline Redpath on hole 6, Alison Day on 9, Lyn Muller on 11 and Mandy Paterson on 16.
Two teams of ladies will be heading off to Townsville to compete in the NQ Women’s Pennants on the last weekend in July.
On Sunday 11 players turned up and played the front 9 before the rain came.
The winner was Paul Grace with 50/44 ahead of runner-up Mark Cohen on 51/45 and Chris Hendersen on 43/51.
Nearest-the-pins went to Tom Fleming on hole 2 and Chris Hendersen on 9 and the snake putter was George Stevensen.
The least number of putts was Paul Grace and the Bradman’s award went to Bruce Upchurch 56/60.
The Dawnies will play the back 9 next Sunday, weather permitting.
