Golfers bat­tle tough con­di­tions

WINDY con­di­tions greeted the 23 ladies for last week’s sta­ble­ford event, where Tina Baden­horst do­nated the tro­phies and prizes were al­lo­cated for three cat­e­gories.

Jenny Houn­sell won the 0-25 hand­i­cap cat­e­gory and Pam Casey won the 26-45 hand­i­cap cat­e­gory.

The over­all run­ner-up was Mary Tay­lor fol­lowed by Tina Baden­horst and Beryl Nos­wor­thy.

Mary Tay­lor had a great birdie on hole 13 af­ter her tee shot was de­flected onto the green by a gum tree.

Near­est-the-pin win­ners for the day were Pauline Red­path on hole 6, Ali­son Day on 9, Lyn Muller on 11 and Mandy Pater­son on 16.

Two teams of ladies will be head­ing off to Townsville to com­pete in the NQ Women’s Pen­nants on the last week­end in July.


On Sun­day 11 play­ers turned up and played the front 9 be­fore the rain came.

The win­ner was Paul Grace with 50/44 ahead of run­ner-up Mark Co­hen on 51/45 and Chris Hen­der­sen on 43/51.

Near­est-the-pins went to Tom Flem­ing on hole 2 and Chris Hen­der­sen on 9 and the snake put­ter was Ge­orge Stevensen.

The least num­ber of putts was Paul Grace and the Brad­man’s award went to Bruce Upchurch 56/60.

The Dawnies will play the back 9 next Sun­day, weather per­mit­ting.
