AFTER a tough start to the season Whitsunday FC’s division 1 team finally had something to smile about after they recorded their first win of 2013 over the Magpies on Saturday.

The gutsy 3-1 win was just what the team needed after a lean start to the year and the playing group are hoping it will be the first of many for the remainder of the season.

A superb hat trick to WFC player Owen Hodgen was a highlight in the muchneeded win as Magpies managed only one goal through midfielder Chris O'Reilly.

The premier men battled hard in their game against Wanderers but had to be content with a 2-2 draw.

Up 2-0 at half time thanks to goals from Luke Hillery and Richard Draper WFC faded in the second half and allowed the home side to level the game and steal a share of the points.

All three teams are playing at Magpies field in Mackay this Saturday starting with the division 1 men against Sarina at 1.30pm, the women against the Lions at 3.30pm before the premier men take on the Crusaders at 5.30pm.
