THE Proserpine U12-13 Taipans soccer team had mixed results at Mackay on Saturday.

The first half against Whitsunday Anglican School (WAS) saw both teams fighting for possession and WAS held Proserpine back until the 12 minute mark when Hunter Mansfield scored his first goal of his nine-goal haul.

This started an onslaught of goals from Hunter, Alex Shultz and Matthew Hansen which brought a halftime score of 6-0.

The second half was much of the same, WAS unable to penetrate the Taipans defence lead by Josh Molten and Dominick Schulte with Josh returning the ball with some astonishing breaks to Hunter and Ben Cornish who scored to make it 13-0.

The next game against Mackay Magpies was a different story when they scored four unanswered goals against the Taipans by half time.

The second half saw the same with Magpies dominating the game.

Goalie Jared Forsyth showed a gutsy effort stopping many goals including a penalty shot but the Magpies proved to be too strong, with precision playing gutting the Taipans with an 8-0 loss.
