Lions welcomes their new leaders
DONATIONS to the local community totalling $77,500 and the success of the Whitsunday Lions Airlie Beach Community Markets were among the many highlights of the Whitsunday Lions Club’s last 12 months.
Warwick McAllister is the new president and was inducted in front of a crowd of 40 people at the Whitsunday Lions 42nd annual changeover luncheon at the Volunteer Marine Rescue Club last month.
Mr McAllister has been a member of the club for almost two decades and this is the first time he has been inducted as president.
Past District Governor Tom Becker from Mackay Host Lions Club was a special guest and completed the installation of new board members for the Whitsunday Lions Club 2013/2014.
Outgoing president Alan Browning awarded Whitsunday Lions president awards to members Robina Mealey, Helen Toy and Alan Gravelle for their support and valuable contribution to various projects over the last 12 months.
The Lion of the Year award was presented to Gloria Demartini for her outstanding work and support of the Youth of the Year project.
Incoming treasurer Sue Gravelle said the changeover marked the end of another very successful year for the Whitsunday Lions Club which included the donation of $77,500 to various community groups.
She said the club was looking forward to continuing their great fellowship together.
