Swim­mers brave cold

RE­CENTLY the Whit­sun­day Masters Swim­ming Club held its an­nual gen­eral meet­ing. The club is happy to have Bob Corskie, Rob McKay, Cheryl West and Freya Hill con­tinue in their ex­ec­u­tive roles.

There has been a huge in­crease in par­tic­i­pa­tion in train­ing over win­ter.

Coach, Mark Erick­son said it was great to see so many adults con­tinue to train through­out the year and not stop over win­ter.

On Sun­day morn­ing, eight swim­mers com­plet- ed a timed 1500m swim for the En­durance 1000 pro­gram.

All of the swim­mers com­pleted the swim in less than 38 min­utes.

Most of the swim­mers also com­pleted a 30 minute swim chal­lenge a month ear­lier.

Next Satur­day evening, the club will be cel­e­brat­ing Christ­mas in July in Blooms­bury.

The Whit­sun­day Masters Swim Club would like to wish young gun, Bernard Laverty all the best at the Gar­dens Meet in Townsville dur­ing early Au­gust.
