MACKAY’S Eastern Swans scored a hard-earned 8.5.536.3.39 win over the Whitsunday Sea Eagles reserves in Mackay on Saturday.

The undermanned Sea Eagles gave the ladder-leading Swans a real test at Rogers Oval and they will take out plenty of positives from the 14-point loss.

Down 27-21 at the main break, the Sea Eagles battled bravely in the second half only to fall just short against the Swans.

The Swans have won all 12 of their games this season.

Cale Barnett and Trevor Ritchie kicked two goals each for the visitors and Ryan Elliot and Nicholas Roach also chipped in with a goal.

Best players for the Sea Eagles were Robert Whitton, Daniel Fletcher, Cale Barnett, Lesley O’Neill and Nicholas Roach.

Bald Eagles players Luke Adams, Ken Deakes and Ben Hall all put their hand up to help make up numbers for the game.

Afterwards the club expressed its thanks for their outstanding commitment to the club.

The senior team enjoyed the bye last weekend and will be ready to go when they take on the Baker’s Creek Tigers at Etwell Park this Saturday.

The reserves are also in action in Mackay, where they will face the North Mackay Saints at Zeolla Park.
