MACKAY Brothers saw off the Proserpine Brahmans 26-16 at Leprechaun Park in Mackay on Saturday with the visitors dropping to third on the ladder after the loss.

After a red hot start to the season the Brahmans have struggled over the last few rounds and they again fell short against a determined Brothers team playing in front of their home crowd.

The Mackay side ran in five tries to the Brahmans three and the 10point defeat saw the Brahmans move to a 9-5 win loss record for the 2013 season.

Things should improve this weekend when the Brahmans travel to Jack O’Brien oval in Mackay to take on the last-placed Norths Devils, who are winless from 14 starts this season.

Brothers turned on the style in the reserves game with a scintillating attacking display in their 62-12 win.

Eleven tries to the Brethren helped them rack up an impressive total against the visitors who struggled to keep up the pace against their more experienced opponents.

Proserpine sit in seventh place on the ladder with a 5-9 record and they are facing an uphill battle to play finals football this season.

Brothers’ under-18s team were also winners on Saturday with five converted tries helping them to a 30-12 win.

The Brahmans under-18s have enjoyed a great season so far in 2013 with Saturday’s loss only their third in 14 games this year.

Currently in second spot on the ladder, the Brahmans looked set for a deep finals run and will hope to return to winning ways against Norths this weekend.

All grades play Norths at Jack O’Brien Oval in Mackay this Saturday.
