Ac­tion-packed agenda ahead for sail­ing club

THE Whit­sun­day Sail­ing Club has an ac­tion­packed few weeks’ of sail­ing ahead in the lead-up to Air­lie Beach Race Week from Au­gust 9-16.

First on the agenda is a Laser train­ing camp on July 27 and 28.

Yacht­ing Queens­land will send top coach Danny Fuller to train par­tic­i­pat­ing lo­cal ju­niors and adults through­out this week­end-long event.

Mean­while, on Sun­day, July 28, the off beach win­ter cham­pi­onship is set to con­tinue, with two races start­ing at 2pm.

For off­shore sailors, the NQ Tele­com Chal­lengers Cup will be held on Sun­day, Au­gust 4. This is the sec­ond last Chal­lengers Cup for the year, with the fi­nal one sched­uled for Septem­ber 22.

The Cock of Glouces­ter will also be held on July 27 and 28, hosted by the North Queens­land Cruis­ing Yacht Club.

The jewel in the crown, the Abell Point Ma­rina Air­lie Beach Race Week 2013, is just over two weeks’ away, with reg­is­tra­tions to take place on Fri­day, Au­gust 9.
