Sin­cere thanks

IT is with great ad­mi­ra­tion that I com­pose this let­ter to thank those who as­sisted in man­ag­ing the un­ex­pected fire on board ves­sel Arawe at Port of Air­lie, on Tues­day, July 23.

On be­half of the Port of Air­lie team I would like to thank the lo­cal fire bri­gade, am­bu­lance ser­vice, po­lice and Mar­itime Safety Queens­land who man­aged the sit­u­a­tion pro­fes­sion­ally and ef­fi­ciently. I would like to thank the team, Jodi and Wayne, who im­me­di­ately sprang into ac­tion with our emer­gency plan. The trades­men from Dick Rowe Marine who as­sisted us on the wa­ter, which was greatly ap­pre­ci­ated, as was the ef­forts of Richard Bar­rett and his team from Abell Point Ma­rina. A fine ex­am­ple of in­dus­try work­ing to­gether, thank you.

Our Out­rig­ger staff, specif­i­cally Dan Jones, as well as the mem­bers of the Whit­sun­day Sail­ing Club and the gen­eral pub­lic who did what­ever they could to as­sist with the sit­u­a­tion, your ef­forts were greatly ap­pre­ci­ated.

Fi­nally, Libby Edge and her Eco Barge team, as al­ways, did a ster­ling job clear­ing up the mess, thank you.
