WHIT­SUN­DAY FC’s pre­mier men’s team gave their all in gutsy 3-1 loss to Mag­pies in Mackay on Satur­day. The away team got off to a per­fect start with a goal in the first minute but the Mag­pies showed why they have lost only two games this sea­son and led the vis­i­tors 2-1 at the break.

They added one more goal in the sec­ond half to se­cure the two-goal win and re­main in first place while WFC man­aged to hang onto fourth spot.

Vet­eran mid­fielder An­thony No­bilia picked up man of the match.


THE WFC women’s team de­feated Wests United on Satur­day, run­ning in 9 goals for a 9-0 win.

Af­ter scor­ing four goals in the first pe­riod WFC didn’t take the foot off the gas in the sec­ond half and can­tered home to their 13th straight win.

The girls have scored a sea­son-lead­ing 66 goals while con­ced­ing only five and are firm favourites to be­come the women’s cham­pi­ons.

The women’s team has a bye this week while the di­vi­sion 1 men will take on the Mag­pies at the Whit­sun­day Sports Park on Sun­day at 11am.

The pre­mier men will also host the Mag­pies on Sun­day with kick off set for 1pm.
