Fan­tas­tic day planned

THIS Satur­day’s game be­tween the Mackay Cut­ters and Norths Devils at the Whit­sun­day Sports Park is shap­ing up as a great day out for fam­i­lies and league lovers in the re­gion.

While diehard rugby league fans can come along and see a host of for­mer and fu­ture NRL play­ers run­ning out for each team, there will also be plenty on of­fer for fam­i­lies with chil­dren.

Event or­gan­iser Justin But­ler said the event would cater for ev­ery­one and en­cour­aged the com­mu­nity to come along to the sports park to sup­port their lo­cal In­trust Su­per Cup team.

“One end of the field near the skate park will be a dry zone, with a jumping cas­tle and a fam­ily grand­stand. To help feed the fam­ily the main club­house will be sell­ing soft drinks and food, with fresh steak and sausage sand­wiches avail­able all day,” he said.

“The op­po­site end will have two li­censed bars, grand­stand seat­ing and liquor con­sump­tion ar­eas and this is a strictly over-18s area.

Gates open at 3pm be- fore the main game kicks off at 4pm with the ball to be de­liv­ered via a sky­diver thanks to Sky Dive Air­lie Beach (weather per­mit­ting).

The lucky first prize win­ner of the Whit­sun­day Times Cut­ters com­pe­ti­tion will get to greet the sky­diver be­fore hand­ing the ball over to the ref­er­ees and cap­tains and see­ing out the rest of the game as a ball­boy.

the main game the Proser­pine/ Whit­sun­day Raiders will host the Bowen Mud­crabs in the Mackay and dis­trict rugby union com­pe­ti­tion with kick-off set for 6pm.

All park­ing is go­ing to be on the far side of Shute Har­bour Road on the va­cant es­tate op­po­site of the Whit­sun­day PCYC. En­try on the day is $10 for adults, $2 for chil­dren aged 5-16 and free for kids un­der four.
