New GM appointed for luxury resort
HAMILTON Island has announced Matthew Taverner as the new general manager of its luxury resort; qualia.
Mr Taverner, who will start work today, has 28 years experience in the hospitality and tourism industries, including over 20 years in managerial roles.
His skill, knowledge and expertise across three continents, with positions previously held in Australia, Fiji, Seychelles Islands, Zambia, Bali, Indonesia and most recently, Hong Kong.
Hamilton Island Enterprises’ CEO Glenn Bourke said Mr Taverner was a veteran hotelier with an undeniable wealth of experience.
“He is the ideal candidate and the qualia and wider Hamilton Island teams, both on Island and in Sydney, are all very much looking forward to welcoming Matthew to his new role as general manager of the best resort in the world,” Mr Bourke said.
Mr Taverner said his appointment was an honour and that the reputation of qualia preceded itself.
