New GM ap­pointed for lux­ury re­sort

HAMIL­TON Is­land has an­nounced Matthew Tav­erner as the new gen­eral man­ager of its lux­ury re­sort; qualia.

Mr Tav­erner, who will start work to­day, has 28 years ex­pe­ri­ence in the hos­pi­tal­ity and tourism in­dus­tries, in­clud­ing over 20 years in man­age­rial roles.

His skill, knowl­edge and ex­per­tise across three con­ti­nents, with po­si­tions pre­vi­ously held in Aus­tralia, Fiji, Sey­chelles Is­lands, Zam­bia, Bali, In­done­sia and most re­cently, Hong Kong.

Hamil­ton Is­land En­ter­prises’ CEO Glenn Bourke said Mr Tav­erner was a vet­eran hote­lier with an un­de­ni­able wealth of ex­pe­ri­ence.

“He is the ideal can­di­date and the qualia and wider Hamil­ton Is­land teams, both on Is­land and in Syd­ney, are all very much look­ing for­ward to wel­com­ing Matthew to his new role as gen­eral man­ager of the best re­sort in the world,” Mr Bourke said.

Mr Tav­erner said his ap­point­ment was an hon­our and that the rep­u­ta­tion of qualia pre­ceded it­self.
