Juniors set sail on Hamo

Whitsunday Times - - ON THE WATER -

THE Whitsunday Sailing Club held its first day of learn to sail courses for children on Hamilton Island last month.

WSC Public Relations Officer Heidi Walton said the sessions, on Opti Tackers, were so successful, that the group had split into two to allow more sailing time.

“Hamilton Island Enterprises have assisted to cover the cost of running the course and Cruise Whitsunday are also assisting junior sailing by providing transfers each week for the Whitsunday Sailing Club’s instructors,” she said.

“The Whitsunday Sailing Club hopes this can be a permanent addition to activities which can be enjoyed on Hamilton Island and it looks forward to days when the Hamilton Island and Airlie Beach children can sail together for club races.”

For any other children on Hamilton Island who would like to learn to sail, there will be another program starting during the next school term.
