Club welcomes visiting bowlers
NO WINNERS were recorded on Tuesday but the lady bowlers had some fun games and a good practice.
The men had almost full rinks for their social game on Wednesday with their numbers swelling with the many visitors from south.
The winners on the day were Eric Bottle, Leigh Williamson and Ron Spence who defeated George Faida, Howard Moulang and Herb Secomb 21/19.
On the next rink Col Howes, Steve Tattam and Jack Dobbins defeated Nik Fernbach, Ken McCallister and Wally Gray 20-15 and John Fornesciero, Dom Sposato and Jim Cairns drew their game with David Stock, Kevin Hally and Keith Beetham 19 all.
On the last rink Ted Evans, Geoff Hoare and Peter Lawton defeated John Keam, Ken Ryder and Peter Lawton 2713.
Wednesday night Business House Bowls was another great night for the teams with Porters Pounders and Whitsunday Transit tying with 13 points and tying for second place on the night were Community Bank and Mitre 10 with 11 points.
Charter Yachts Australia is still leading the bunch with 67 points closely followed by Porters Pounders on 63 and Whitsunday Transit on 59.
Darts are still looking for more members and everyone is welcome to head down to the bowls club on Wednesday night and have a go.
The men’s competition has finished and now members are asked to watch the board for the draw for mixed pairs and fours.
Sunday was a full rink day with members and visitors making up the games of triples, pairs and fours.
The winners for the afternoon were Gwenda and Brian Arnold and Keith Beetham who defeated David Zimmerman, Dale Hell and Betty Holness19-5, and Ken McCallister, Ron Spence and Maureen Barnard defeated Barry Steven, Nik Fernbach and Linden Mallesch 15-9.
On the next rink David Stock, Kevin Halley and Peter Lawton defeated Judi Wright, Alison Holmes and Leigh Williamson 14-10 and on rink five Col Howes, Ken Ryder and Howard Moulang defeated Kevin Jewell, Noela Whitehead and Betty Stock 14-10.
On the last rink Jo Howes, Mabel Davy and Shirley Williamson defeated Dom Sposato, Eric Bottle, Steve Tattam and Wally Gray 13-11.
The pair’s game on the first rink was won by June Walsh and Joyce Malleson who defeated Lyn Boyce and Henny Tattam 19-1.
Visitors this week included Brian and Gwenda Arnold from Phillip Island, Joyce and Linden Mallesch, Lyn Boyce, Kevin Halley and return visitor Ken McCallister.
Coming up on September 14 is the club’s first supper dance for everyone.
