Abbot Point

Whitsunday Times - - WHITSUNDAY NEWS AND VIEWS - Reliance Lee PROSERPINE

THE talk is still on about dumping the sludge of Abbot Point and I am sure the people know that between the government and mining companies where there is (billions of dollars) involved they will dump it where they want it to go. But let us put it to them in this way that if they are fair dinkum about the environment tell them to dump it out 10 nautical miles past the continental shelf where 80 per cent of it will go outward but do very little harm. As I have said before if dumped inside the reef (another Gladstone) surely the cost of the extra few miles won’t break them. If it is dumped on land it would be worse. But I guess greed with them will win.

Especially when they put on all foreign workers for cheap labour.
