Proserpine sets tourism priorities
FREE camping facilities at Peter Faust Dam, a ‘Sugar Shack’ centre, new billboards and signage promoting Proserpine and re-establishing the Harvest Festival were among the top priorities identified at Tuesday night’s Proserpine Tourism Forum.
Whitsundays Marketing and Development Limited (WMDL) chief executive officer Danial Rochford said the forum was a positive step forward in identifying opportunities to grow the tourism industry for Proserpine.
“I am very pleased with the priorities that the Proserpine community has identified for tourism growth, and they will certainly see more visitors in Proserpine if they all come to fruition,” Mr Rochford said.
“The attendees were realistic that Proserpine needs to focus on developing more tourism products, but were also eager to undertake some simple marketing efforts that should lure more tourists off the highway and into the town,” he said.
The Proserpine Tourism Forum was the fifth of five industry engagement sessions that WMDL has held around the region in the past three months.
