Visitors welcomed to Wednesday bowls
THE weather was perfect for social bowls on Wednesday and lots of fun was enjoyed by all.
Ron Rowe (visitor from Soldier’s Point) and Joy Jeffries defeated Janet Mortimer and Gail Camm 25-12, Betty Evans (visitor from Coonabarabran), Trudy Hanne, Lois Read and Maree Daffara defeated Carlie Albertson, Noelie Dibben and Barbara Dammash 21-16.
Also Dell McCormack, Pepper Evans (visitor from Coonabarabran) and Heather Patullo defeated Darelle Rowe (visitor from Soldier’s Point), Joyce Patullo and Heather Brown 27-16.
Champion of champions singles is being played this week with Joan McGrath, Amy Hart and Janet Mortimer playing in the club championship, B grade and novice singles.
McGrath is playing at Northern Beaches on Thursday with Mortimer and Hart playing at Pioneer Valley on Wednesday.
Finals are at Mackay club on Friday for all bar the novice singles which will be played at Suburban next Thursday.
Social bowls will be available at Proserpine.
Champion of champion pairs is being played at Airlie Beach on Tuesday, August 20.
Lois Read and Dot Hinschen will be playing against Seaforth in the afternoon.
Consistency Singles games will begin on Wednesday, August 21 with Heather Brown vs. Joy Jeffries, Jo Peasley vs. Heather Patullo and Amy Hart vs. Carlie Albertson (markers Barbara Dammash, Dot Hinschen and Joan McGrath).
On Wednesday, August 28 it will be Lois Read vs. Maree Daffara and Joan McGrath vs. Gail Camm – (markers Heather Patullo and Heather Brown).
The presidents at home day is on Wednesday, September 4.

All members are also requested to bring along two cent sale prizes for that day.
This weekend, the ladies club will be catering for the Men’s Under 200s Carnival.
Anyone available to assist with meals or helping out in the kitchen on either day should contact the club.
There was a big day of competition games on Saturday.
In the morning, both semi-finals of the club championship triples were played.
Dean Lovelock, Scott Kinnear and Ben Cutrone defeated John Henderson, David Cooke and Ross Reville 32-6 and Shane Kinnear, Todd Leys and Scott Hamilton defeated Martin Corr, Jonathan Bye and Barry Saroglia 25-19.
In the afternoon, the final of the triples was played where Dean Lovelock, Scott Kinnear and Ben Cutrone defeated Shane Kinnear, Todd Leys and Scott Hamilton 1811.
Also played on Saturday afternoon was the final of the club championship singles where Barry Saroglia came back to win this year’s title 25-22 despite a flying start from Wayne Handley.
Pairs winners Michael and Grahame Kinnear played in the champion of champions at Northern Beaches over the weekend.
They won their first game against Moranbah 33-10 on Saturday afternoon, won convincingly against Mackay on Sunday morning and then lost in the final 9-23 against Suburban.
One game of social bowls was played on Saturday afternoon where Rick Williams, Dale Haack and Barry Zillmann defeated Arthur Williams, Ross Reville and Kevin Thorogood 22-15.
At Sunday afternoon social bowls Janet Mortimer, Lois Read and Kevin Thorogood defeated Darelle Rowe (visitor from Soldier’s Point), Joy Jeffries and Barbara Dammash 20-8, Arthur Williams, Noelie Dibben and Pepper Evans (visitor from Coonabarabran) defeated Trudy Hanne, Philip Brown and Heather Brown 26-9 and Fran Porter, Matthew Camm and Gail Camm defeated Jeanette Calway, John Henderson and Joan McGrath 23-19.
In the other game John Lahney, Flo O’Hanlon, John Dammash and Dot Hinschen drew with Ron Rowe (visitor from Soldier’s Point), Kevin Duell, Pam Selmes and Maree Daffara 21 all.
The Sunday trophy was won by Kevin Thorogood’s team with the lowest winning score.
This weekend is the Under 200s Carnival with 26 teams competing and there will be no social bowls available.
FINE FORM: Ben Cutrone went up against Ross Reville in the triples semi finals at the Proserpine Bowling Club on Saturday.
