Vis­i­tors wel­comed to Wed­nes­day bowls

THE weather was per­fect for so­cial bowls on Wed­nes­day and lots of fun was en­joyed by all.

Ron Rowe (vis­i­tor from Sol­dier’s Point) and Joy Jef­fries de­feated Janet Mortimer and Gail Camm 25-12, Betty Evans (vis­i­tor from Coon­abarabran), Trudy Hanne, Lois Read and Ma­ree Daf­fara de­feated Car­lie Al­bert­son, Noelie Dibben and Bar­bara Dam­mash 21-16.

Also Dell McCor­mack, Pep­per Evans (vis­i­tor from Coon­abarabran) and Heather Pat­ullo de­feated Darelle Rowe (vis­i­tor from Sol­dier’s Point), Joyce Pat­ullo and Heather Brown 27-16.

Cham­pion of cham­pi­ons sin­gles is be­ing played this week with Joan McGrath, Amy Hart and Janet Mortimer play­ing in the club cham­pi­onship, B grade and novice sin­gles.

McGrath is play­ing at North­ern Beaches on Thurs­day with Mortimer and Hart play­ing at Pi­o­neer Val­ley on Wed­nes­day.

Fi­nals are at Mackay club on Fri­day for all bar the novice sin­gles which will be played at Sub­ur­ban next Thurs­day.

So­cial bowls will be avail­able at Proser­pine.

Cham­pion of cham­pion pairs is be­ing played at Air­lie Beach on Tues­day, Au­gust 20.

Lois Read and Dot Hin­schen will be play­ing against Seaforth in the af­ter­noon.

Con­sis­tency Sin­gles games will be­gin on Wed­nes­day, Au­gust 21 with Heather Brown vs. Joy Jef­fries, Jo Peasley vs. Heather Pat­ullo and Amy Hart vs. Car­lie Al­bert­son (mark­ers Bar­bara Dam­mash, Dot Hin­schen and Joan McGrath).

On Wed­nes­day, Au­gust 28 it will be Lois Read vs. Ma­ree Daf­fara and Joan McGrath vs. Gail Camm – (mark­ers Heather Pat­ullo and Heather Brown).

The pres­i­dents at home day is on Wed­nes­day, Septem­ber 4.

Please put your name in if you are in­tend­ing to play, ei­ther on the list at the club or by ring­ing Heather Brown on 4946 1517.

All mem­bers are also re­quested to bring along two cent sale prizes for that day.

This week­end, the ladies club will be cater­ing for the Men’s Un­der 200s Car­ni­val.

Any­one avail­able to as­sist with meals or help­ing out in the kitchen on ei­ther day should con­tact the club.

There was a big day of com­pe­ti­tion games on Satur­day.

In the morn­ing, both semi-fi­nals of the club cham­pi­onship triples were played.

Dean Love­lock, Scott Kin­n­ear and Ben Cutrone de­feated John Hen­der­son, David Cooke and Ross Reville 32-6 and Shane Kin­n­ear, Todd Leys and Scott Hamil­ton de­feated Martin Corr, Jonathan Bye and Barry Saroglia 25-19.

In the af­ter­noon, the fi­nal of the triples was played where Dean Love­lock, Scott Kin­n­ear and Ben Cutrone de­feated Shane Kin­n­ear, Todd Leys and Scott Hamil­ton 1811.

Also played on Satur­day af­ter­noon was the fi­nal of the club cham­pi­onship sin­gles where Barry Saroglia came back to win this year’s ti­tle 25-22 de­spite a fly­ing start from Wayne Han­d­ley.

Pairs win­ners Michael and Gra­hame Kin­n­ear played in the cham­pion of cham­pi­ons at North­ern Beaches over the week­end.

They won their first game against Mo­ran­bah 33-10 on Satur­day af­ter­noon, won con­vinc­ingly against Mackay on Sun­day morn­ing and then lost in the fi­nal 9-23 against Sub­ur­ban.

One game of so­cial bowls was played on Satur­day af­ter­noon where Rick Wil­liams, Dale Haack and Barry Zill­mann de­feated Arthur Wil­liams, Ross Reville and Kevin Thoro­good 22-15.

At Sun­day af­ter­noon so­cial bowls Janet Mortimer, Lois Read and Kevin Thoro­good de­feated Darelle Rowe (vis­i­tor from Sol­dier’s Point), Joy Jef­fries and Bar­bara Dam­mash 20-8, Arthur Wil­liams, Noelie Dibben and Pep­per Evans (vis­i­tor from Coon­abarabran) de­feated Trudy Hanne, Philip Brown and Heather Brown 26-9 and Fran Porter, Matthew Camm and Gail Camm de­feated Jeanette Cal­way, John Hen­der­son and Joan McGrath 23-19.

In the other game John Lah­ney, Flo O’Han­lon, John Dam­mash and Dot Hin­schen drew with Ron Rowe (vis­i­tor from Sol­dier’s Point), Kevin Duell, Pam Selmes and Ma­ree Daf­fara 21 all.

The Sun­day tro­phy was won by Kevin Thoro­good’s team with the low­est win­ning score.

This week­end is the Un­der 200s Car­ni­val with 26 teams com­pet­ing and there will be no so­cial bowls avail­able.

FINE FORM: Ben Cutrone went up against Ross Reville in the triples semi fi­nals at the Proser­pine Bowl­ing Club on Satur­day.
