Bowlers flock to Air­lie’s green

AIR­LIE BOWLS

AIR­LIE ladies wel­comed some vis­i­tors on Tues­day when they played triples in so­cial bowls.

They were Jill and John Saun­ders and Leon Wil­son Oroner from down south.

The men’s so­cial games played on Wed­nes­day just about filled all the rinks.

The win­ners on the day were David Stock and Leigh Wil­liamson who de­feated Dom Sposato and Leon Wil­son 22-18, Col Howes, Doug Mur­phy and Herb Se­comb de­feated Howard Moulang, Ken McCal­is­ter and Jack Dob­bins 22-15 and John For­nasiero, Nik Fern­bach and Jeff New­man drew with Peter Lawton, Ron Spence, Jim Cairns and Kevin Hal­ley 22 all.

On the next rink Ken Ry­der, Ge­off Hoare and John Keam de­feated Steve Tat­tam, Ted Evans and David Tin­dall 33-12 and on the last rink Ron Ord­ner, Man­fred Krug and Wally Gray de­feated Eric Bot­tle, Keith Beetham and Brian Arnold 24-22.

An­other round of vis­i­tors joined the bowlers, in­clud­ing Leon Wil­son, Ron Ord­ner, John Keam, Brian Arnold, Man­fred Krug, Dave Tin­dall and Kevin Ha­ley all hol­i­day­ing in the Whit­sun­days.

Busi­ness House Bowls on Wed­nes­day night was won by Whit­sun­day Tran­sit on 13 points. Sec­ond was Char­ter Yacht Aus­tralia with 12.

Lead­ing the field is Char­ter Yacht Whit­sun­day with 67 points fol­lowed by Porters with 63 and then third Whit­sun­day Tran­sit with 59.

As the cover was hav­ing run­ning re­pairs on Sun­day so­cial bowls was played on Satur­day af­ter­noon with a won­der­ful roll up of vis­i­tors and reg­u­lars.

The win­ners were Kevin Jewell, David Stock and Herb Se­comb who de­feated Ron Ord­ner, Lin­dern Mallesch and Ron Spence 17-7 fol­lowed by Ken Ry­der, Raff Ri­tale and Leigh Wil­liamson who de­feated Eric Bot­tle, Mae Se­comb and Jo Howes 15-9.

On the next rink Carol Ri­tale, Howard Moulang and Ken McCal­is­ter de­feated Shirley Wil­liamson, Steve Tat­tam and Wally Gray 15-9 and on the next rink Peter Lawton and Brian Arnold played pairs with Jill Spencer and Dom Sposato 14-10. Paul Phillips, Nick Fern­bach and Leigh Wil­liamson de­feated Col Howes, Glenys Perkins and Gwenda Arnold 13-12.

More vis­i­tors ar­rived and played on Satur­day and they were wel­comed to the club by all mem­bers. Com­ing up on Septem­ber 14 is the club’s sup­per dance from 7pm with ev­ery­one wel­come.
