WFC roar past Lions

WHITSUNDAY FC made it two wins from as many weeks on Saturday with an important 2-1 win over Lions in Mackay on Saturday.

In a heated game the visitors were able to assert their dominance and continued their recent rich vein of form which has transformed them into genuine title contenders.

A slow start to the season is now well behind WFC and they will be hopeful of taking all three points when they face the last-placed Country United in Airlie Beach this Saturday.

A 10-man Whitsunday FC pushed Brothers all the way in Mackay on Saturday before a late collapse saw them go down 6-3.

Player unavailability left WFC a man short but they battled hard and at the 60 minute mark scores were level at 3-3.

Three late goals cruelled the visiting team’s chances but all their players took plenty of heart out of their effort against the first-placed Brothers.

All teams are at home at the Whitsunday Sports Park this Saturday starting with the division 1 men against Wanderers at 2pm, the women against City Brothers at 4pm and the premier men taking on Country United at 6pm.
