New faces for Proserpine police
TWO new faces will help keep order in Proserpine with the local police station welcoming Senior Constable Alan Davis from Townsville and Senior Constable Tim Farran from Bedourie in south-west Queensland to their ranks.
Senior Constable Davis spent four years working on the force in Townsville and when a position came up in Proserpine he effectively swapped jobs with Proserpine police officer Darren House, who is now based in Townsville.
“A position came up so I decided to make the move and I’ve been here over two months now. It’s not as busy as Townsville and Proserpine seems like a good town with friendly people,” he said.
Senior Constable Farran has been in Proserpine for just over a week after making the move from Bedourie, near the Simpson Desert with his wife and five children.
“It was hard being by myself all the time as the single officer at Bedourie so it’s nice to move here and work with others again,” he said. “Two of my girls are about to start high school and they couldn’t have done that in Bedourie and so far we’ve all found Proserpine to be a friendly little town.”
WELCOME TO TOWN: Senior Constables Alan Davis and Tim Farran are the two new policeman stationed in Proserpine.
