Springfest fes­ti­val on at Win­ter­moon site

THIS year’s Springfest in the Pocket will be held at the Win­ter­moon Fes­ti­val site on Satur­day, Au­gust 31 and Sun­day, Septem­ber 1.

Springfest is a mu­si­cal week­end gath­er­ing put on by Mackay Com­mu­nity Gar­dens to sup­port and en­cour­age lo­cal mu­si­cians.

The fes­ti­val un­of­fi­cially kicks off next Fri­day at 6pm and or­gan­is­ers have been flooded with re­quests from artists, which al­lows fes­ti­val go­ers to be en­ter­tained by var­i­ous mu­si­cal tal­ents in a jam type ses­sion stage for an ex­tra nom­i­nal fee.

Next Satur­day’s pro­gram will be­gin around 10am with a wel­come to the coun­try as lo­cal in­dige­nous el­ders and dancers open the fes­ti­val.

The day con­tin­ues through to midnight where crowds en­ter­tained by var­i­ous well known artists in­clud­ing The Fat Cigar Fi­esta Band, Tay­lor and Silk, Peace and Plenty, Swoon, David Flower, Caro­line Tren­gove and many oth­ers.

Food will be pro­vided with the well-known Win­ter­moon piz­zas avail­able all week­end, plus other items can be pur­chased through the Moon­shine Cafe.

As well as all the live mu­sic and dance, there will be a wheel­bar­row race, raf­fles, and lots of sun­shine and good times.

No al­co­hol will be sold on site but guest can bring their own.

The camp­ing ticket sales have been capped to al­low for a small in- ti­mate crowd and you can sleep in your car.

Des­ig­nated fire places will be avail­able and dogs are not per­mit­ted on site.
