Parent and kids connect at libraries

Whitsunday Times - - WHITSUNDAY KIDS -

CHILDREN and their parents flocked to the Beach Library in Cannonvale last Friday morning for the always popular weekly story time.

Story time is a 30 minute program of stories, dancing, songs and a simple craft activity for children aged 3-5 years and runs every Friday from 10.30am at the Beach Library and 10.30am every Tuesday morning at the Proserpine Library.

Young families are able to network and meet other parents and story time is a great way for children to build on their social and fine motor skills.

The libraries also offer rhythm and rhyme workshops, aimed at younger children aged between 0-2 years.

These 20-30 minute sessions were provided for parents and children to enjoy together and involved simple stories, songs and rhymes to provide a baby’s first introduction to the world of language. The sessions run at the Beach Library every Monday morning from 10.30am and the second Friday of every month in Proserpine.
