A do­na­tion to help ju­nior sailor

WHIT­SUN­DAY ju­nior sailor Eva Lorenz is in Ja­pan this week at the In­ter­na­tional Op­ti­mist Dinghy Asian Re­gional Cham­pi­onships.

Eva, 14, left on Sun­day to at­tend the cham­pi­onships which start to­day and run un­til Au­gust 30.

The cham­pi­onships are be­ing held in Hayama, Ja­pan and Eva is one of only seven Aus­tralian sailors to com­pete, in­clud­ing only two from Queens­land.

Eva was se­lected af­ter at­tend­ing the Aus­tralian National Cham­pi­onships in Tas­ma­nia in Jan­uary.

At the Whit­sun­day Sail­ing Club on Fri­day night, the owner of Abell Point Ma­rina, Paul Dar­rouzet, an­nounced a do­na­tion of $5000 to Eva to help her with ex­penses for her trip.
