Bowlers en­joy­ing cooler con­di­tions

ALL Air­lie Beach bowlers were out to en­joy the win­ter days with mem­bers wel­com­ing lots of south­ern vis­i­tors.

At Wed­nes­day mens bowls John For­nasiero, Ron Spence and Herb Se­comb de­feated Ken Ry­der, Leigh Wil­liamson and Wally Gray 20-18 and Ron Ord­ner, Nik Fern­bach, David Stock and Leon Wil­son de­feated Howard Moulang, Ge­off Hoare and Man­fred Krug 16-14.

On Sun­day David Zim­mer­man, Lin­den Mallesch and Betty Hol­ness de­feated Nick Fern­bach, Mae Se­comb and Joyce Mallesch and June Walsh and Ali­son Holmes, de­feated Judd Wright and Charlene Gre­gory.

In the other games Brian Arnold, Jo Howes and Herb Se­comb de­feated Ken Ry­der, Doug Pirie and Gwenda Arnold, Kevin Jewell, Betty Ni­colle and Ma­bel Davy de­feated Barry Stevens, Dom Sposato and Leigh Wil­liamson and Colin Howes, Noela White­head and Wally Gray de­feated Ron Ord­ner, Leon Wil­son and Henny Tat­tam

Also Shirley Wil­liamson, Steve Tat­tam and San­dra Argo de­feated David Stock, Ron Spence and Mau­reen Barnard.

On Tues­day the Mackay dis­trict cham­pion of cham­pi­ons pairs was played in Air­lie with Margo Stan­ley and Betty Ni­colle rep­re­sent­ing the club.

They played very well dur­ing the morn­ing match win­ning well over Pi­o­neer Val­ley, but in the af­ter­noon match they met with the South Sub­ur­ban pair who so of­ten rep­re­sent the dis­trict, and were beaten.

The fi­nals will be played in Mackay on Thurs­day.
