Touch tournament open to all
TOUCH football players from across Queensland will converge on the Whitsunday Sports Park for the Whitsunday Touch gala day on Saturday, September 14.
Last year’s event saw teams come from across the Whitsundays, including the Whitsunday islands and this year’s competition looks set to attract the best teams from Mackay and Townsville.
Whitsunday Touch Association president Mark Beale is expecting this year’s tournament to be the biggest yet and said nominations are welcome right up until September 12.
“It’s a good opportunity for our local teams to test themselves against the best in North Queensland,” he said.
“Last year we just had teams from the mainland and the islands so it will be bigger and better this year with players coming from right around North Queensland.
Beale said anyone looking to get involved in the local Monday night competition or wanting to put a team together for gala day should email firstname.lastname@example.org, go to the club’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/Whitsunday Touch or contact Bernard Woods on 0429 470 017.
