Made to pay for big night

BLOOMS­BURY res­i­dent Codey Paul Steven­son was fined $900 and or­dered to pay $220 resti­tu­tion af­ter a wild night out in Proser­pine where he stole cash, a debit card and other items from two un­locked cars.

Mr Steven­son ad­mit­ted to hav­ing no real rec­ol­lec­tion of the events af­ter con­sum­ing two casks of wine on the night of April 3 when the of­fences took place on Mill Street, Proser­pine.

The 19-year-old was also charged with pos­ses­sion of uten­sils that had been used for drugs af­ter po­lice searched his house on Au­gust 9.

He ac­cepted the ver­sion of events put for­ward by the po­lice and Mag­is­trate Ron Muir­head took into ac­count the fact that he was in­tox­i­cated at the time and that all crimes took place in one lo­ca­tion on one night.
