THE Whitsunday Mountain Bike Club (WMTBC) was well represented at the Mackay and District Mountain Bike Club (MAD MTBC)’s annual MAD Rush on Sunday.

Over 60 competitors from Mackay and neighbouring clubs enjoyed the fast and flowing purpose-built single track at Rowallan Park in the gruelling six hour enduro.

The nature of an enduro style race combined with the creative trail design tested mental agility as much as physical ability.

Competitors of all ages competed in teams of two, three and four members and there were even some crazy solo riders tackling the six hours on their own. The top male competitor was Jeff Rubach (Townsville), completing 16 laps and the top female was Chris Labes (Whitsunday) who clocked up 11 laps. Other outstanding podiumfinishers from the Whitsunday MTBC included a third place finish for Leigh Smith (womens) and second place for Rodney Mills (masters men).

MAD RUSH: Chris Labes and Rodney Mills from the Whitsunday Mountain Bike Club competed in the Mackay and District Mountain Bike Club (MAD MTBC)’s annual MAD Rush on Sunday.
