Ju­nior cricket starts up next week

THE Proser­pine ju­nior cricket sea­son will be­gin next Fri­day, Septem­ber 13 at the Kelsey Creek sports ground.

The Proser­pine Cricket Club has again de­cided to stick to the Fri­day af­ter­noon cricket for­mat which has been pop­u­lar over the past two sea­sons.

The un­der-10s to 15s will start at 4pm and fin­ish around 6- 6:30pm. The mini-crick­eters (Have a Go and Have A Game), aged un­der-5 to un­der-9 will play from 5-6pm. This sea­son the club has de­cided to have the play­ers sign-on prior to the first two games which will be Fri­day, Septem­ber 13 and Fri­day, Septem­ber 20.

Last year saw the recom­mence­ment of the Bowen-Proser­pine in­ter-town chal­lenge games.

Pres­i­dent of the Proser­pine Ju­nior Cricket Club, Brett Hansen said that the two clubs are again plan­ning to have a Whit­sun­day ju­nior cricket chal­lenge with two games planned be­fore Christ­mas and one in Fe­bru­ary. Club fees for this sea­son for the 10-15 start from $60, up to $85 (with shirt and cap) for the whole sea­son. The regis­tra­tion fees for the mini-crick­eters (Have A Go) start from $25 for a ba­sic regis­tra­tion (no pack) and go up to $80 for a full Have A Go cricket pack.
