Optus customers lose 3G in Whitsundays
WHITSUNDAY customers on the Optus network have suffered disruptions to 3G services over the past week.
Airlie Beach resident Yvonne Chaloner said she was just one of the customers who were affected.
“I find it’s not perfect anyway but it’s been terrible this week,” she said. “It’s just so frustrating and it wastes hours and hours.”
An Optus spokesperson confirmed that due to a hardware fault at an Optus mobile site in Airlie Beach, 3G coverage in the area was affected, with the problem finally fixed on Wednesday. “Optus engineers have been on site to conduct major repairs to restore services to this site. This has now been completed,” the spokesperson said. “We would like to apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused.”
