Marketing manager moves on

Whitsunday Times - - WHITSUNDAY BUSINESS -

WHITSUNDAYS Marketing and Development Limited (WMDL) will farewell its marketing services manager of five years tomorrow (Friday, September 13).

Danielle Krista (nee Seymour) joined the former Tourism Whitsundays (TW) in September 2008 as a communications support officer.

She has had the job of promoting the organisation and that has had its ups and downs.

Just days into the job, she was faced with the revelation that TW’s former financial controller had stolen more than $300k from the organisation.

“The first press release I ever sent out on September 9, 2008, was titled ‘Charges laid against TW employee’,” she said.

Since then, Ms Krista has weathered four cyclones, funding cuts and funding increases, a merger with the former Enterprise Whitsundays and massive marketing campaigns such as the Best Job in the World.

“Probably the two biggest marketing achievements have been [winning] the Queensland Tourism award for tourism marketing, for the TW website in 2011 and the Young Achiever award in 2012,” she said.

Overall, Ms Krista says the past five years have been amazing.

“It’s been an amazing opportunity to promote a place that I love and it’s something that I put my heart and soul into doing,” she said.

WMDL CEO Danial Rochford acknowledged Ms Krista’s significant contribution to the region.

“Danielle will be sorely missed by all, but I know a new chapter beckons for her and I am positive she will do well in her new business,” he said.

Ms Krista has started her own business providing freelance PR services to clients such as Marine Tourism Management Limited, which includes the companies Cruise Whit- sundays and several operations in Fiji.

She also has the flower business K-Bloom, which she established with her husband James Krista in May.

FAREWELL: Whitsundays Marketing and Development marketing services manager Danielle Krista will be leaving her role of five years tomorrow. She is pictured here at the Queensland Tourism Awards of 2012, where she won the Young Achievers Award.
