Drifters return to local track

Whitsunday Times - - MOTORING -

DRIVERS from the Mackay and District Drifters (MADDINC) will be taking to the Whitsunday Raceway for a day of high-octane drift racing on Saturday.

Gates open at 8am for the action packed day of drifting which attracts some of North Queensland’s best drivers to test their skills on the custom-built track.

MADDINC president Peter Young said the event is open to all drivers with new faces regularly taking to the track.

“It’s a great opportunity for drivers to get heaps of track time and just have some fun,” he said.

The club holds regular drift days at the raceway just outside Proserpine with supporters or newcomers welcome to come and give drifting a try or experience the thrills as a passenger for a hot lap.

Spectators’ entry costs $10 per person with passenger hot laps costing $20 per person.

An entry fee of $150 for the day applies to drivers who do not hold a current MADDINC membership.

The next event on the drifting calendar will be held on October 26.
