President takes out stableford comp
WHITSUNDAY GOLFWHITSUNDAY golfers played the club’s stableford championships last Sunday under threatening skies but the weather stayed kind and the players stayed mostly dry. President Kerry Hall won his first trophy in all his years of competing, with his long time rival Kym Hill, coming in one point behind.
A grade was won by Kerry Hall on 31 points, followed by Kym Hill on 30 points on a count back from Mick Caton.
The best gross score was Ross Richards.
B grade was won by Brendon Meharry on 42 points on a countback from runner-up Ernie Holstein, who was also on 42 points. Mick Cooper received best gross score. Jacqui Wall won C grade on 40 points, followed by Reg Kercher on 39 points and Wilf Herweg took out best gross score.
The longest drives on the day went to Kym Hill (A grade), Mick Cooper (B grade), Reg Kercher (C grade) and Anna Winterbourn (ladies).
Nearest-the-pins in A/B grade was Brendon Meharry on hole 2 and 16 and Mick Caton on 13.
C grade nearest-the-pins was won by Wilf Herweg on hole 13
and 16, and Reg Kercher on hole 9.
Tessa Aitken got nearest-thepins on hole 9 and 13 in the ladies, and Anna Winterbourn got it on hole 16. Next Sunday will be the annual Caltex Proserpine 2 ball ambrose competition with tee off at 7.30am.
