Roadworks cause delays
MOTORISTS travelling from Airlie Beach to Proserpine and further south this week have had to sit through delays of up to 45 minutes due to roadworks on the Bruce Highway.
Drivers faced lengthy delays as traffic backed up well past the Myrtle Creek turnoff.
A Department of Transport and Main Roads spokesperson said they were undertaking resurfacing works on the Bruce Highway in Proserpine between the Proserpine River bridge and Fuljames Street.
“The works are expected to take about two weeks to complete,” the spokesperson said.
“Congestion was experienced through Proserpine on Monday and Tuesday, and we have looked at measures to reduce this congestion.”
The sections that require a lane closure will now be completed at night or on the weekend.
The spokesperson said they understand the issues these works are causing for the travelling public and thanked motorists for their ongoing patience.
