RATEPAYERS who did not pay their rates by the close of business on Monday will not receive the 5 per cent discount.
According to the Council a toal of $34.3million in rates have been issued and only about $5.6million remain unpaid.
There are a total of 17,525 ratepayers and based on these figures, it is belived more than 2500 of them still owe their rates for this financial year.
Cr Whitney said more than 80 per cent of the region's ratepayers had taken advantage of the discount available and as a result had helped Council ensure it worked through one of the toughest budgets in history.
Mayor Whitney said it was a challenging time for the community, not only with rates but with the cost of living having a heavy impact on many families and businesses.
