The long awaited main street upgrade is now finished with traffic going in both directions. What are your views?

Whitsunday Times - - WHITSUNDAY VIEWS -

Simon Schroeder, Cannonvale: I think it took way too long to complete and with the amount of money spent you would expect the finishes to be a lot better than what it is but at least it is finished. Virgina Edmonds, Jubilee Pocket: For all the time and money spent on the main street I can't see much of a difference. I think it is a positive thing to see the street operating in both directions. Matt Vickers, Mandalay: It looks alright but it took a long time to complete. I'm more cencerned about the impact it has had on business. I don't know how many went broke along the way. It's an improvement anyway. Caitlyn Killick, Airlie Beach: It looks great and it seems really busy in the main street which is promising. I think the upgrade has created a lot of hype. The only downside is all the cars parked everywhere. Sean O'Regan, Airlie Beach: It's a serious improvement on what we had previously and the lookout from Airlie Crescent is beautiful. It will be interesting to see how the street evolves as the plants grow. Mel Pringle, Airlie Beach: I think it looks really clean and the landscaping is really attractive. I think it is a concern how narrow the street is with two-way parking but I'm sure it meets regulations. Simon Parsons, Abell Point: I think it looks great but it's sad that tourism has dropped off so much. Visually it looks great and I think the landscape architects have done a great job at bringing it together.
