Ju­nior ten­nis play­ers take on re­gion’s best in Townsville

TEN­NIS

A NUM­BER of ju­niors from the Proser­pine Ten­nis Club at­tended the ju­nior de­vel­op­ment series A fi­nals in Townsville over the week­end.

There were around 125 com­peti­tors, rang­ing from ages 7-17.

All the lo­cal play­ers gave their best as they came up against some stiff com­pe­ti­tion from the best young play­ers in the re­gion.

Con­grat­u­la­tions goes to Mika Stim­son and Kim­berly Azul who placed fourth and fifth in the 13 and un­der girls divi­sion.

Their re­sults mean they have qual­i­fied to rep­re­sent North Queens­land at the state fi­nals in Rock­hamp­ton on Oc­to­ber 26 and also at the Queens­land ju­nior team car­ni­val in Bris­bane on De­cem­ber 14

So­cial ten­nis con­tin­ues to be a hit at the Proser­pine Courts and weekly Sun­day morn­ing ses­sions have been added to the sched­ule, start­ing at 9.15am ev­ery Sun­day.

TEN­NIS TEENS: Max Cor­nish, Kim­berly Azul, Sam Cor­nish, Cal­lam Ogilvie-Al­cock, Mika Stim­son and Seth Trinder were some of the ju­niors who rep­re­sented the Proser­pine Ten­nis Club at the ju­nior de­vel­op­ment series A fi­nals in Townsville over the week­end.
