Top team adds to com­pe­ti­tion lead

ALL teams were in ac­tion in Thurs­day night ten­nis in Proser­pine this week.

Gavin Milne’s team were de­feated by Glen Botes’ team 59-50 in an ex­cit­ing match-up.

It was a close con­test be­tween the teams up un­til half time with Milne’s team only trail­ing by two games 29-31.

The sec­ond half Glen Botes’ team won four of the six sets with Gary Scot­ford and Keith Jeppsen hav­ing good nights win­ning all four of their sets.

Ash­lyn Hare subbed for Tie­gan Hodges on the night.

In the other match-up Howard Lawn’s team de­feated Lay­ton Mitchell’s 63-46.

Lawn’s team came from one game down at half time to win by a mar­gin of 17 games at full time.

Jackie Mitchell played well all night win­ning all four of her sets against her fa­ther’s team and her team has now opened up an 80 game lead over sec­ond place.

Af­ter seven weeks Lawn’s team still leads the com­pe­ti­tion on 450 games.

Milne’s team is still in sec­ond place with 370, Mitchell’s team com­ing in third with 353 and in fourth po­si­tion is Botes’ team on 336.

This Thurs­day night Milne’s team will be play­ing against Mitchell’s team and Botes’ team will be play­ing against Lawn’s.

The bye lines this week are three and seven.

So­cial ten­nis is on at the Proser­pine Ten­nis Courts in Jupp Street on Satur­day start­ing at 2.30pm.

FRIENDLY COM­PE­TI­TION: Todd Mar­shall with his part­ner Ash­lyn Hare played against Jo Wright and Bre­ana Chauntler at Thurs­day night ten­nis in Proser­pine.
