Kerchers win Caltex comp
A CROWD of 41 players turned out to play the annual Caltex Proserpine sponsored 2- ball Ambrose competition last Sunday and the results indicate the close competition that ensued.
Tactics and strategy are almost as important a component of the game as talent and the team of Dean and Annie Kercher played well to win the day.
Frustration also showed with one player taking out the dummy-spit award which means they wear the dummy for each competition until it is won by someone else.
The game was followed by a barbecue and presentation hosted by Caltex Proserpine at the Reef Gateway Hotel where the winners collected their prizes.
The Kerchers won on 61 strokes on a count back from Scotty and Linda Wardroper. Geoff Harrison and Joanne Moynihan were third on 61.25 and Brad Hammond and Ross Richards rounded out the top four on 63.25
Longest Drives came from Kym Hill in (A grade), Darren Williams (B grade), Wilf Herweg (C grade) and Jacqui Wall (ladies).
Nearest-the-pins on hole 2 were Mick Cooper and Ernie Holstein, Geoff Harrison and Joanne Moynihan on 9 and 16 and Wilf Herweg and Tiina Randmae on 13.
Next Sunday will be the September monthly medal with tee off at 7.30am and the following Sunday, September 29, will be the first round of the club championships.
AMBROSE COMP: Sponsor of the two ball ambrose event, Ron Jamieson of Caltex Proserpine with golfer Joanne Moynihan who came third on the day and winners Dean and Annie Kercher.
