EVA Lorenz is the latest black belt from the Airlie Beach branch following the recent South Pacific Taekwondo district grading held in Bowen on September 8.

The local teenager put on a spectacular display of skill and power to achieve a high standard, passing her grading with a credit.

On the day, the grading involved a rigorous multiskill examination of techniques including patterns, low contact sparring and breaking boards, culminating with a gruelling free spar with other black belts including district instructors taking turns to fight her.

The 14-year-old was also joined by 28 other students from across the region including Airlie Beach, Collinsville and Bowen clubs who were put through their paces for grading.
