Plans to unmask tourism award winners

Whitsunday Times - - LOCAL NEWS -

MASQUERADE will be the theme of this year’s annual Whitsunday Tourism Awards to be held at the Whitsunday Sailing Club on Saturday, October 19.

Whitsunday Marketing and Development (WMDL) partnership manager Greg France said the event would be a celebration of the hard work and dedication of Whitsunday tourism operators.

“The Whitsunday Sailing Club is a brilliant venue and we are happy to be holding the awards on the mainland this year,” he said.

“The masquerade theme was just for something a little bit different, to add excitement to the event and a bit of mystery on the night.”

Whitsunday Sailing Club general manager Angela Rae was honoured to have the chance to provide a venue and host the tourism award winners.

“There are not that many opportunities to step outside the norm in the Whitsundays so I think the theme will be a great success and it’s nice to step away from a sit down affair,” she said.

The awards ceremony will take place outside under a large marquee tent with delicious hot and cold canapés hand delivered by wait staff.

There will be live entertainment and numerous bar areas throughout the venue with beer and wine included in the ticket price.

Whitsunday Regional Council mayor Jennifer Whitney and councillors, local members of parliament, and Queensland Minister for Tourism Jann Stuckey have also been invited to attend the event.

Mr France said the event traditionally attracts over 200 guests and tickets were selling fast.

Tickets cost $130 per ticket and can be purchased online at www.whitsundaytickets.com.au.

GREAT EVENT: Toni Ward from Whitsunday Jet Ski Tours, Vanessa Moss from I Do Events, Sam Hayward from Whitsunday Sailing Club and Jan Claxton from Ocean Rafting are looking forward to the masquerade party for the annual Whitsunday Tourism Awards at the Whitsunday Sailing Club on October 19.
