UK tourist charged after being naked in McDonalds
A 20-year-old tourist was fined $550 for wilfully exposing his naked body at the McDonald’s restaurant in Airlie Beach on Monday, September 9. McDonald’s staff notified Whitsunday Police about a naked man who was causing the disturbance at 11pm.
CCTV footage showed the man, later identified as Harry Samual Taylor, walking into the restaurant naked and waving his genitals at staff and customers.
He then went back outside with his friends as McDonald’s staff locked the doors to the restaurant.
Taylor proceeded to rub himself on the glass walls of the restaurant and stand around naked for a number of minutes before walking away.
Whitsunday Police found Taylor lying naked on the steps at Magnums with a friend filming him and two more friends standing nearby. Police observed Taylor to be grossly intoxicated with blood shot eyes and unable to stand without assistance.
He was arrested for wilful exposure and police returned to McDonald’s to review CCTV footage of the incident.
Taylor was transported to the watch house, charged with wilful exposure and released on bail the next day.
He entered a plea of guilty in writing, stating the incident “was out of character” and that he would be returning home to the United Kingdom yesterday (Wednesday, September 25).
No conviction was recorded for the offence.
