Workshop aids aspiring writers

Whitsunday Times - - COMMUNITY NEWS -

BUDDING writers from across the Whitsundays got the chance to learn from the professionals at the ABC Open workshop held at the Beach Library in Cannonvale last Thursday.

ABC Open producer Dan Battley said the workshops were a great opportunity for aspiring writers to pick up some useful tips and tricks.

“ABC open is a free workshop to help get amateur writers published and this month I introduced the 500-word writing project which is a monthly writing challenge for people to tell a personal non-fiction story connected to a theme,” he said. “The theme for September is focused on reframing failure and at the next workshop I can have a look at everyone’s stories and work on getting them published on our website.”

Following the writing workshop was a beginner’s photography course, titled Snapped, which is a project that teaches the basic principles of photography and useful advice on how to best use your camera.

For more information on the next workshop contact the Beach Library on 4946 1366.
