Whitsunday Times - - ON THE WATER -

CREW members are desperately needed for boats entered in the Advanced Alarms Mackay Whitsunday Offshore Yacht Racing Circuit.

The series, to be held on October 5-7 is known as one of the toughest challenges of the sailing season.

Local boats are looking for crew to join in this great experience, and of course the social events after the racing.

Whitsunday Sailing Club sailing development officer Tim Parker said the racing will be tough, with up to eight boats from Mackay, trying to take the series for their club.

“Anyone interested in sailing should log onto the Whitsunday Sailing Club website and register on the crew available page,” he said.

Saturday, October 5 will take participants from Mackay to Ha- milton Island, followed by a race from Hamilton Island to Airlie Beach on Sunday, October 6.

The final race will take place from Airlie Beach to finish at Bowen on Monday, October 7.

The event is a combined effort between the Cruising Yacht Club of Hamilton Island, Whitsunday Sailing Club, Mackay Yacht Club and the North Queensland Cruising Yacht Club in Bowen.
