Proud president wishes teams well

NO-ONE is prouder of the efforts of Whitsunday FC’s (WFC) division 1 womens and premier mens teams qualifying for the grand final than club president and long time football advocate Steve Tween.

Mr Tween and his wife Annette have worked tirelessly over many years to get football up and running in the region and he said a win in this Saturday’s grand final would be a major boost for the sport in the Whitsundays.

“This is the sixth year in the Mackay competition for the men and the fifth for the women so to finally make our first grand final is a great achievement,” he said.

“The coaching of both teams has been the real difference this year. The standard of coaching has been fantastic and we’ve added some new players who have played really well.”

Tween said that a dual grand final win would be amazing for football in the region and would help attract more players for many seasons to come.

“It would be such a huge achievement for our club and I really think both teams have a great chance of finishing as champions for 2013.”

Anyone wishing to get on the supporters bus to Mackay for the games should contact Annette Tween on 0409 963 220.
