Calling for cooks for Amateur Chef challenge

Whitsunday Times - - COMMUNITY NEWS -

HOME cooks from around the Whitsundays are encouraged to test their skills at the AmateurChef Cook-off to raise funds to build an amazing adventure playground in Cannonvale.

The always popular event is moving to a new home this time round and cooks will need to be available from 5pm for a 6.30pm start on November 2 at Club Croc Airlie Beach.

Event organiser Kellie Chart said this is the fourth cook-off fundraiser they have put on and follows on from their AmateurChef team challenge and AmateurChef at home promotions.

“There are 10 spots available in the one-pot-wonder challenge where the contestants will have to produce a main meal in 90 minutes to serve 12 people on the night,” she said.

“We also have a dessert section and contestants need to submit 12 portions of pre-cooked dessert to be served cold on the night. The judges for both meals will be all the attending public on the night.” Chef spots are going fast and anyone interested is encouraged to get in quickly so they don’t miss out.
